Built on Trust: JOTS Rentals and the Value of Long-Term Partnerships

In the portable sanitation industry, success requires more than quality equipment. It relies on dependable products, responsive support, and relationships built to last. For JOTS Rentals, a leading portable sanitation provider in the South Central Territory, those factors have played an important role in the company’s continued growth.

We recently spoke with Chris Stuckey of JOTS Rentals about their experience working with Satellite Industries, the importance of consistency, and what makes a supplier partnership valuable for the long term.

As JOTS Rentals has grown, Chris explained that the company has faced challenges familiar to many operators: finding equipment that delivers durability, maintains a professional appearance, and provides lasting value.

"As we've grown, we've needed equipment that can handle heavy use and still look good in the field. The biggest challenge is always balancing durability, appearance, and cost."

Looking Beyond the Equipment

When evaluating manufacturers, JOTS Rentals wasn’t simply searching for portable restrooms or sanitation equipment. According to Chris, they were looking for a supplier that understood their business and could support their future growth.

"The equipment itself is only part of the equation. We were looking for a company we could build a long-term relationship with, one that understood our business and would be there as we grew."

While there were no major issues with previous providers, consistency remained a priority.

"We wanted a manufacturer that was easy to work with and delivered a product we knew we could trust every time."

Why JOTS Rentals Chose Satellite

When asked what led JOTS Rentals to partner with Satellite Industries, Chris pointed to the relationship that had developed over the years.

"There are a lot of good products in our industry, but we've always appreciated the people at Satellite and the way they've supported operators like us. We felt like they were a company we could do business with for the long term."

Throughout our conversation, one theme continued to emerge: people matter. While equipment quality is important, Chris believes communication, accessibility, and trust are what truly distinguish a supplier relationship.

The Power of Consistency

Many customer success stories focus on dramatic improvements or defining moments. For JOTS Rentals, the greatest value has come from something simpler, consistency.

"I don't know that I'd point to one specific improvement. It's really been the consistency. We've had a good relationship over the years, and that's valuable in any business."

That consistency includes dependable support and the confidence that assistance is always available when needed.

"Success means having dependable partners. When we need equipment, support, or answers, we know we can pick up the phone and get help from people who understand our business."

Supporting Operations and Customer Experience

Reliable equipment plays an important role in both operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. According to Chris, dependable products help reduce challenges for service teams while creating a better experience for customers.

"Reliable equipment means fewer headaches for our service teams and a better experience for our customers."

He also emphasized the impact quality equipment has on customer perception.

"Good equipment definitely helps. The cleaner and more dependable the product, the better the experience is for everyone involved."

When asked whether there was a specific moment that stood out, Chris pointed instead to years of reliability and follow-through.

"It's not one specific moment. It's years of doing what you say you're going to do. In business, trust is built over time, and that's what we've experienced with Satellite."

A Relationship-Focused Approach

When describing the Satellite team, Chris highlighted their responsiveness and accessibility.

"Accessible, responsive, and relationship-focused. We've always felt like we could reach someone when we needed to."

What has stood out most over the years hasn't been a particular product feature, but the people behind the products.

"The team more than anything. The equipment is good, but what has always stood out is the people and the relationships they've built throughout the industry."

That people-first approach is one of the reasons Chris would confidently recommend Satellite Industries to other portable sanitation operators.

"Not because a portable restroom is dramatically different from anyone else's, but because relationships matter. We've had a positive experience working with the Satellite team, and that carries a lot of weight with us."

Looking Ahead

As JOTS Rentals continues to grow, Chris is optimistic about the future of the partnership.

"We're looking forward to continuing to grow together and seeing what new products and innovations come next."

When asked to describe Satellite Industries in a single word, his answer perfectly captured the foundation of the relationship:

"Trusted"

In an industry where reliability, responsiveness, and reputation matter, trust is earned over time. Through years of collaboration, JOTS Rentals and Satellite Industries have built a partnership grounded in consistency, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to serving customers. As both organizations continue to grow, that foundation remains strong.

Account Executive Spotlight – Meet Barry Taylor

That same emphasis on trust and long-term support carries into the work of South Central Territory Account Executive Barry Taylor. With nearly a decade of industry experience and a background in operations, Barry brings practical knowledge and a customer-focused approach to every interaction.

An Unexpected Path into Portable Sanitation

Like many industry professionals, Barry didn't originally plan to build a career in portable sanitation.

About nine to ten years ago, the company Barry worked for owned just 28 portable restrooms and a single slide-in unit used primarily for train derailment projects. When he was asked to grow the portable restroom side of the business, he wasn't immediately convinced.

"At first, I did not want any part of it, but after doing some digging on the portable restroom industry, I thought it would be a good idea."

That decision proved worthwhile. Over the years, Barry helped grow the operation from 28 units to between 1,500 and 2,000 portable restrooms, multiple luxury restroom trailers, and a team of eight to nine service technicians.

That experience gave him a deep understanding of the challenges operators face every day, knowledge he now uses to support customers throughout the South Central Territory.

Focused on Customer Success

While no two days are exactly a like, Barry's routine centers on staying connected with customers and ensuring they have what they need to succeed.

Most mornings begin with a cup of coffee, followed by emails, customer calls, and outreach to new contacts. Throughout the day, he balances communication, support, and problem-solving.

"After the emails, I start making phone calls to customers to make sure they are taken care of, then I reach out to customers I have not connected with yet. Throughout the day, I continue answering emails. So basically, it’s phone calls and emails."

A Passion for Problem Solving

When asked what he enjoys most about his role, Barry's answer is simple: helping customers overcome challenges.

"My favorite part of working with customers is problem-solving. I have operational experience, and I enjoy making sure customers' concerns and issues are taken care of."

Because he has managed a growing portable sanitation operation himself, Barry understands the realities of running a business and can relate directly to the challenges many operators encounter.

Changing Perceptions of the Industry

Portable sanitation is often misunderstood by people outside the industry. When asked what might surprise them most, Barry offered a light hearted but honest response:

"It doesn’t smell as bad as people think it does."

Behind the humor is a reality industry professionals know well: modern portable sanitation is a highly professional business that plays a critical role in supporting construction projects, special events, emergency response efforts, and growing communities.

Life Beyond Work

Outside of work, Barry enjoys spending time with family and staying connected to the rodeo community.

Many customers may be surprised to learn that he previously rode horses and competed in team roping events. Today, much of his free time is spent supporting his daughters as they compete in rodeos throughout the region.

"I spend my spare time driving my beautiful daughters to compete in different rodeos in our area."

Advice for the Next Generation

For anyone considering a career in portable sanitation, Barry's advice is direct:

"Do it."

He believes the industry offers long-term opportunity and stability, with continued demand driven by growth in construction, infrastructure, events, and community development.

"The portable sanitation industry isn't going anywhere. As long as there is growth, the portable sanitation industry will be around."

Three Words That Define Barry

When asked to describe his leadership style in three words, Barry didn't hesitate:

"Strong. Dependable. Understanding."

Those qualities reflect the approach Barry brings to customers every day. Whether he’s helping solve a challenge, sharing operational insights, or simply making himself available when needed, Barry remains committed to helping customers succeed and building lasting partnerships throughout the South Central Territory.
